6.7 Starting & Stopping BEAR
July 6th, 2025 RBAC required: BEAR: HTTP controls
The Admin interface allows control of the following three system operations:
- The BEAR application server service
- The BEAR shared memory realm
- The host operating system
Never perform a service restart or server reboot without access to the physical host or console. In the event of a failure, direct intervention may be required. It should be obvious that if a BEAR shutdown is performed instead of a restart, then the application server can only be restarted using the backend command start_appserver. Similarly, if a server shutdown is performed, then physical access to the host will be required to power it back on again. To control BEAR, do the following:
- From the admin Tools menu, select HTTP Control and open the Process Control tab.

- Select the operation desired and click Execute.
